Mr. Bruso began his legal career as a full-time Assistant County Prosecutor in 1974, serving in that capacity for eight years. That was followed by twenty-four years in private practice, working primarily in Criminal Defense, Family Law, Civil Rights Claims and General Civil Practice. Mr. Bruso was a Certified Family Law Economic Mediator and served for years on the New Jersey Supreme Court District Ethics Committee investigating Complaints of attorney ethics violations. He also served as a member of the US District Court Criminal Justice Act Panel, regularly representing indigent individuals  charged with federal crimes. Peter Bruso is an attorney with Jay Goodman & Associates Law Firm, PC. He has been practicing law for over thirty years.

Mr. Bruso is licensed to practice law in New Mexico and New Jersey and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, District of New Mexico, the US District Court, District of New Jersey, the Ninth Circuit US Court of Appeals and the Third Circuit US Court of Appeals.

After three years of service in the US Army as a Counterintelligence Agent from 1968 to 1971, Mr. Bruso attended Boston University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts, receiving his Juris Doctorate degree in 1974. He completed his undergraduate education at West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Bruso concentrates his practice primarily in Family Law, Criminal Defense and General Civil Practice.

Mr. Bruso’s present and former memberships and activities include: New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association; National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; Criminal Justice Act Panel Member, US District Court,District of New Jersey; Community Justice Institute (NJ) Certified Family Law Economic Mediator; Member, New Jersey Supreme Court District Ethics Committee; Mentor, Vincent Hanneman Inns of Court; Officer, New Jersey Assistant Prosecutors Association.

Mr. Bruso and his wife are the owners of the Old Boarding House Mercantile, the historic General Store in Madrid, New Mexico.
